Subject: Zellhoefer/Pfeiffer/Haverland.

my g.g.grandfather John Michael ZELLHOEFER b.17 May 1825 in Bavaria, & Elizabeth PFEIFFER were married 16 Sep 1848 in Rome, JeffCo  Elizabeth died in childbirth of twins George & Katherine (Sophie) 9 Sep 1858, we believe buried in Riverview East (only info is "stone washed".  The twins were adopted about 4 years later by Melchoir & Katherine (Ragatz) Klotz of Sauk County.

JMZ remarried in 1859 to Eleanora HAVERLAND, who was previously married to HEILEMANN and then to MILLER back in Germany, then emigrated to the USA as a widow with a daughter from each of them.  JMZ & Eleanora had 3 daughters, then he died 1865 in Civil war service & is buried in Louisville KY.  Eleanora is buried in Riverview East.

I seek more information on any of the above, but in particular:

1.  ANY tracks as to Elizabeth Pfeiffer (also found w/spelling Pfeffer); and

2.  Any documentation as to the adoption of George & Sophie by the Klotz's.

3.  Any documentation as to the parents of JMZ.

4.  Descendants of the 3 daughters of JMZ & Eleanora (they married BOGIE, LIPPERT, and ROETHEL)

Thanks

Subject: Rasch Brewery Connedtion?

Hello, I am attempting to trace the sister of my great grandfather Friedrich Rasch.  He immigrated to the USA in 1882 and settled in Ixonia in Jefferson County where he filed his "first intent" papers.  His sister lived in Watertown, Wisconsin.  That small piece of information was given in his obituary.  He died in 1917, and so I assume she was still living.    My great grandfather, at the time he lived in Jefferson County was spelling his name Rasch.  He later changed it to Rach.  I do not have the married name of his sister.  Do you have any advice as to how I can trace her.

Any advice you can give would certainly be appreciated.

Thank you.  /  M. Christensen

Subject: James Harvey Meeker & Sylvia Andrus Ford Meeker

I am from the line of James Harvey Meeker & Sylvia Andrus Ford Meeker. In the 1850 census, Town of Hebron, James and his family are listed as house # 775 and family # 807. James sometimes went by the name Harvey Meeker. He used Harvey when his marriage was recorded in Vermont in 1823. On Jan 27, 1857, Harvey Meeker was granted a land patent # 531, to the SW qtr of the SE qtr (40 acres) of section 21, North of Range 15 East. In the 1860 census Sylvia Meeker is listed as head of household along with her children. I suspect James died sometime between 1857 and 1860. I cannot find Sylvia in 1870 census, so believe she may have died. I cannot find James and Sylvia's tombstone in any of the cemeteries that are on line, although Their son Josiah and his wife Caroline are buried in the Monro Cemetery. I would like to find obituaries for both James (Harvey) and Sylvia Meeker and where they are buried if possible.

Subject: 1850s RECORDS

I'm trying to locate my earliest ancestors to America and know that in 1860 they were living in Milwaukee.  The year of their immigration was 1852.  Since a lot of Germans settled in Dodge County, I'm wondering if that's where mine might have lived before they moved to Milwaukee.

The names are these:

Heinrich Johannes

Sophia Johannes

Karl Fischer

More specifically, I am looking for the death of Heinrich Johannes between 1852 and about 1858, and the re-marriage of Sophia to Karl Fischer in about 1859.  I'm also looking for Karl Fischer's first marriage, which was probably in the decade of the 1850s too, but I don't know the name of his first wife.

Please let me know what your resources are, and if you have a fee for doing research.

Subject: (no subject)

I am seeking members of the family of Calvin Porter Richardson and his wife, Fanny Elizabeth Rust Richardson, who came to Dodge County in 1846 from Onondaga County, NY with at least 4 children.  Specifically, I am looking for Harriet E. Richardson, born about 1837 (age 13 in the 1850 Census) in NY.  She was not in her parents' household in the 1860 Census, and I have not located a burial in the family plot in Lowell.  Perhaps she married, but I have not found any announcement.  A family member remembers that there was a close family friendship with the Jillson family.   Now, I'd like to check whether that might have been Harriet's family.

I find a land purchase for Warren Jillson in 1849 in Section 21, Twnshp 10N  Range 14E in Dodge County.  This would have been about 3 years after Calvin and family arrived.

Do you have information on Warren Jillson's family and might there be a Harriet B. Jillson anywhere?  It's a stretch, but other than that, a search would just involve reading wives' names in the county, I think.

Any help or direction will be welcome.

Thanks.  Nancy Rose

I'm trying to find death records for George and Isabella MCFARLANE.   They lived in Rome, Wisconsin and died in September of 1846.  I know they were not buried in a formal cemetery but on the farmstead.  Would there be a local paper that would have archived obituaries?  Or would there be records at the county seat?

Hi! I just found out today that several lines of my family history were in your town in the 1800s. I am trying to find out information on the McGovern family who immigrated to your town in the late 1830s(approximately). They had several sons, one called James. I also had  relatives  who immigrated to your town in the 1860s called Julius and Mary Voss and Julius' sister, Mathilda. Julius and Mary taught at St. Marks from 1869-1875. Do you have any information on this? I know that Julius and Mary had 2 sons,Julius Voss Jr and Theodore Voss.  Mathilda became my great grandmother. James McGovern was my great grandfather.

Do you have any information as to which Lutheran churches were in existence in 1875 in the rural Watertown area?

I am trying to find JOACHIM AND LOUISE BERGEMANN who were born in very early 1800 in Prussia (Brandenburg area, we think).  We have a picture of the couple that was taken at the May’s Photo Studio in Watertown, but that is the only proof that we have of their existence in the area.  I was hoping that I could possibly find a trace of them in some Lutheran church records.  I have heard there were Bergemann’s in the Hustisford area, but I have no way of knowing if they are connected.

Any help that could point me in the right direction would be really appreciated.
