Certificates

Eligibility:

For a Pioneer Family Certificate, applicant must directly descend from a immigrant ancestor who settled in Dodge or Jefferson Counties by 1856, inclusive.

For a Century Family Certificate, applicant must directly descend from an immigrant ancestor who settled in Dodge or Jefferson Counties 100 or more years ago.

The applicant need not presently reside in Wisconsin; however, descendancy from the immigrant through the applicant must be proven and submitted for each generation. Proof must also be submitted to show the earliest date you have as to when your immigrant actually lived in Dodge or Jefferson County. These proofs should be in the form of church records (baptism, marriage, death); courthouse records (includes birth, marriage, death, land, and probate); and census records. When submitting, census proofs, also photocopy the heading of that page which shows year, date, town/twnsp., county, etc. Send photocopies only of all proofs, and they must be clear and readable to us. The earliest date shown on your proofs will determine your eligibility for either the Pioneer or Century Certificate.

We cannot accept certificates you may have received from other societies as proof since they would necessarily have different requirements from ours. D/JCGS does not seek to make a profit, but needs to meet expenses; therefore we charge a $5.00 fee per certificate.

Thank you,
Dodge/Jefferson Counties Genealogical Society
